Yeah, the whole "Everything I touch dies" argument should've been at the forefront of Chance's mind the moment he realized he had even a twinge of feeling for Ilsa. And you're right; there's evidence throughout the season that he's worried for her, but he never reaches the sort of introverted panic we see when he's grappling with his feelings for Maria, or even the deep concern he shows Winston in Corner Man.
